So… why do we use EFT/Tapping on the Negative stuff?
Because it’s there!
We have to go through, feel and experience our emotions in order to shift them. It’s time to Tap on the Crap!
Watch this video for some thoughts on why to tap on the crap:
Click here to learn Why You MUST Tap on the Negative
Putting things off is a fine art that many of us have mastered.
You intend to do something… but don’t do it.
Intend to do it again…
Still don’t do it.
Add it to your To Do list so you are SURE to get it done this time…
Still don’t do it.
Beat yourself up for not doing it.
Tell yourself you ARE going to do it this time and move it to a different day on your calendar and/or move it to an updated To Do List.
Don’t do it… again.
Beat yourself up again. This time with a bigger stick.
Move your To Do to the next day.
This time… you still don’t do it and you try to ignore it.
It keeps popping up in your head.
You start SHOULDING on yourself: “I really should…”
But you can’t seem to get it done… WHY??!?!??!?!
Guess what?
There is a secret to handling PROCRASTINATION.
You ready for it???
You need to GET IN ALIGNMENT with what you want to get done.
You might think you want to do it. You might know it’s good for you and in your best interest to do it. You may even really NEED to do it or get it done. But there is a reason you are procrastinating.
You aren’t fully in alignment with your To Do, project, or goal for one reason or another. That may not make sense to you because you really want to get it done—so how can you be out of alignment with it?
Hang with me a second here.
Think about the opposite of procrastination.
Think about a time you were in the flow, and things happened really quickly for you.
Like the one day you decided you wanted to get a new job and later that day someone mentioned a new job to you. You sent your resume in the next day, got an immediate call back, and interviewed a couple of days later. It all came together really quickly.
Things happen quickly when you are in alignment with your desire—your beliefs aren’t stopping you, you’re excited about what you want, and your energy is lining up.
So back to the question: how can you be out of alignment?
Likely there is something from your past that is triggering you. You see, our brain is hardwired to keep us safe and if it senses any kind of danger or senses your To Do, project, or goal goes against a subconscious belief you’re holding onto, then it will stop you from accomplishing something despite your best intentions.
In order to get into alignment, you can go within and ask yourself questions to uncover the thing from your past that is holding you back. Then, tap on it.
Jot down the answers to the following questions as you’re thinking about the thing you need to do.
Tap on whatever came up for you. When you feel like you have clarity, then you can move on to the next logical step of the To Do, project, or goal. Chunk it down into smaller bite-sized steps. Here’s an example of how to do that.
Let’s say you want to paint your living room. If you add “Paint Living Room” to your Saturday schedule you likely aren’t going to get to it. That’s too big. There are lots of steps that come before you can actually paint your living room. You’ll need to:
Once you have those things completed, then you can actually paint your living room, and you’ll actually be able to keep the appointment on your calendar to get it done.
Simple, right?
When you tap on the underlying emotions that keep you stuck and break your To Do down into doable, steps, things start flowing and you can finally get your To Do DONE.

A lot of times we have stress in our body and aren’t even aware of it. For many of us, this stress shows up as constricted breathing.
Instead of taking long, deep breaths, ours become short and shallow. Sometimes we even unconsciously hold our breath when overwhelmed by work or our anxieties.
To reduce stress and relax our bodies and minds, we need to breathe easily and deeply.
Luckily, EFT/Tapping is an excellent tool you can use to open your chest for deeper breathing especially during times of stress.
When we pause, take a moment to breathe, and use EFT/Tapping we can help reduce the stress hormone, cortisol, in our body. When our cortisol level drops we can feel our body calm down and our chest opens up, making it easier to breathe.
Take a self-care moment here to follow the instructions for this quick exercise—seriously, it’ll only take a few minutes and your body will likely feel calmer as a result.
First, I will describe the steps in the exercise and then I will walk you through them.
You’ll take a deep breath in and then let it out. Then you’ll measure your breath for ease of breathing on a scale of 0–10. Zero means it’s super easy to breathe and ten means breathing is very constricted and you’re having a hard time breathing.
When you take that measurement, trust your body’s wisdom. A number will pop up in your mind. Even if you think you made it up, trust the number you received. Your body speaks to you all the time—you just may not be used to listening and hearing your body’s messages. That’s OK. Today I am asking you to listen and to trust. Trust that you didn’t make it up.
You’ll write that baseline number down.
Next, you’ll start tapping using the words “constricted breathing” at each tapping point. You’ll tap a couple of rounds through each of the points.
You’ll stop and re-measure your breath using the same measuring scale in Step 1 and write down your new number.
Step 4: Repeat as Needed
Your goal is to get your constricted breathing down to zero, so repeat the previous steps as many times as needed.
Are you ready to try it?
Take a deep breath in and slowly let it out.
Measure it on a scale of 0–10.
0 = Super easy to breathe
10 = Super constricted, having a hard time breathing
Remember to trust the number that pops into your mind. Trust your body’s wisdom and write down that number.
Top of Head: Constricted breathing
Inside Eye: Constricted breathing
Outside Eye: Constricted breathing
Under Eye: Constricted breathing
Under Nose: Constricted breathing
Crease in Chin: Constricted breathing
Collarbone: Constricted breathing
Under Arm: Constricted breathing
Top of Head: Constricted breathing
Inside Eye: Constricted breathing
Outside Eye: Constricted breathing
Under Eye: Constricted breathing
Under Nose: Constricted breathing
Crease in Chin: Constricted breathing
Collarbone: Constricted breathing
Under Arm: Constricted breathing
Re-measure your breath on a scale of 0–10.
0 = Super easy to breathe (if it got easier to breathe, your number went down)
10 = Super constricted, having a hard time breathing (if it got harder to breathe, your number went up)
What’s your new number? Write it down.
Did you go up?
Down?
Stay the same?
No matter your response, please know it’s just a measurement and there is no need to judge yourself if your number went up or stayed the same.
I’d like you to also notice the thoughts that were going on in your mind—and if you can’t recall them, that’s OK. Let’s go through another round, and this time, pay attention to any thoughts fluttering through while you’re tapping on constricted breathing.
Your thoughts impact your stress level and therefore impact your breathing. Don’t judge your thoughts. Just notice them.
Top of Head: Constricted breathing

Inside Eye: Constricted breathing
Outside Eye: Constricted breathing
Under Eye: Constricted breathing
Under Nose: Constricted breathing
Crease in Chin: Constricted breathing
Collarbone: Constricted breathing
Under Arm: Constricted breathing
Stop here.
Re-measure your breathing on a scale of 0–10.
0 = Super easy to breathe (if it got easier to breathe, your number went down)
10 = Super constricted, having a hard time breathing (if it got harder to breathe, your number went up)
What’s your new number? Write it down.
Did you go up?
Down?
Stay the same?
Keep repeating this process until you feel like you’re at a zero, your body is calm, and you feel an openness in your chest.

Catch up on parts one, two, three, four & five.
Sexual abuse, healing, and forgiveness aren’t light topics and clearly make people uncomfortable. But that isn’t a reason for me to not share my personal story, especially since nearly 50% of women have been sexually abused in some manner.
Silence doesn’t heal. When we open up and share our truth from our hearts with others, our own healing process begins.
(You know this is true. Think back on a time when you wanted to tell someone close to you the truth about something you’d been secretly holding inside for a while. You were afraid to share, but when you finally did you felt better about it. Right?)
Yes, this stuff is hard to speak of. And, frankly, it has taken courage and bravery to move past the fear inside of me in order to share something I held inside for so long. The fear I am talking about is how people will treat me or what they will think of me after reading some of my yuckiest secrets.
❇ Some people want to know who the person is that abused me. I am not going to reveal that to you, but I will tell you this: it was NOT anyone from my family, nor is it my family’s fault in any way, shape, or form.
❇ Some people are asking why I didn’t tell them back then. They may feel guilty or shameful for not knowing. They’re racking their brain wondering why they didn’t see it, or if they could have done something back then to stop it.
❇ Some are feeling protective, angry, and vengeful.
❇ Some are angry I am talking about this. They think I should continue to keep this a secret and just shut up already.
❇ Some people have unfriended me on Facebook or unsubscribed from my newsletter.
❇ Some people are worried that I am going to get angry, sue, blame, and be hateful.
❇ Some people are commending me and sending me personal notes thanking me for my courage and vulnerability.
❇ Some are saying, “I am sorry that happened to you,” and/or, “Wow, Julie, I don’t know what to say.” (Those are perfectly fine things to say.)
❇ Some have let me know they’ve experienced something similar, weren’t able to talk about it, but now feel they can share with someone else, and they are finding freedom in that. They no longer feel alone. (This makes sharing worth it.)
We all have different experiences, feelings, and emotions that come up when something uncomfortable is talked about. We all deal with things differently. Sometimes, we aren’t sure how to deal with them and it comes out sideways.
Although all of these responses are normal, some of your responses hurt and your silence is deafening.
While that is okay, I want to take a moment to make something crystal clear:
Sharing my story publicly was a carefully considered, intentional act made from a place of LOVE.
Not fear. Or blame. Or wanting revenge.
✳Personal Responsibility
✳Healing and Forgiveness
When people share personal stories and we react to them, we often think it’s the other person’s fault that we are reacting, but it’s NOT. Our reaction is OUR responsibility, not theirs.
We all have our own experiences, biases, beliefs, feelings, and opinions that drive how we think, behave, and react. So if we are reacting by being outraged, appalled, angered, hurt, upset, frustrated, or any other emotion like that, then that is our personal stuff to work through that we need to heal within ourselves.
Often we react because of something from our past—something we experienced earlier on in our lives and haven’t fully dealt with. We stuffed our pain away, ignored it, pretended it didn’t exist, and kept it secret. And as a result of not dealing with it, it’s rearing its ugly head in a new situation, giving us a new opportunity to deal with it now.
This is true whether you are a survivor, a supporter of a loved one, or someone who wants nothing to do with any of this.
If we’re repeatedly experiencing a lot of negative emotions because of others, then it’s in our best interest to try something new in order to get different results. Our negative emotions are ultimately hurting us, not them.
There are many options to help you process the emotions and feelings you’re experiencing to get to the root of what is going on for you. It takes time to work through the healing. Forgiveness is a process that can be quite messy and painful, but when we do the work we feel freedom on the other side.
This #Metoo stuff is a Movement—not a moment.
You may not like it because it’s uncomfortable, but it’s not going away. Societal change is happening. Survivors need support and sexual violence needs to end.
My part in this movement is on the healing and forgiveness side.
And however you react, I will do my darnedest to stand in love as I continue to spread my message.
