Sending Love can go from an overused sweet sentiment to an intentional energy shifting act that feels good. It’s a simple process, but we have to pause and do it for it to be effective.
Below are the deets on who, when, where, and how to send Love so you can be intentional with it.
Who to send Love to:

+ someone you love
+ someone who needs support (physical, mental, emotional, financial)
+ someone you’re in conflict with
(which isn’t always easy to do)
+ someone you hate and/or don’t want to forgive, (which can be very hard, but very freeing!)
+ people, places and things that have been impacted by disasters (natural or otherwise, like a hurricane or shooting)
Take a moment to think about who you’d like to send Love to while you’re reading this so you can feel good sending Love to them in just a moment.
When to send Love:
anytime – day, night, evening, weekend, it doesn’t matter.
The best time to do it is right when you are thinking about someone or a situation that tugs at your heart, regardless if you’re in a position to help in another way, too, or not.
Where to send Love:
to a specific person, place, or thing anywhere in the world.
Also, you don’t need to be in a specific location to send Love. You could be at work, at home, or even standing in line at the grocery store.
You can send Love from anywhere in the world to anyone at any time.
How to send Love:
- First, close your eyes
- Next, direct your breath in through your heart and out through your heart
- Then set the intention to send Love to someone or something specific
Although you’ll continue breathing through your heart throughout the entire exercise, after 3 full breaths you’ll imagine the person, place or thing you want to direct Love to, is in front of you. Imagine Love in the form of heart shapes coming out of your heart, floating across the space between you, and entering the heart of the person, place, or thing you intend to receive it.
You can choose any color you want for the hearts. You could imagine sparkling light rays beaming along with the hearts, or even send heart bubbles. Whatever pops into your mind that represents sending Love for you is perfect.
Continue breathing through your heart as you send Love, take a couple more deep breaths through your heart, and when you feel complete, then open your eyes and notice how you feel.
The whole process can be as quick as 10-15 seconds and as long as you choose to make it last. The longer you stay in the elevated emotion of Love, the better it is for whomever you’re sending Love to, and the better it is for you. Yes, you do benefit from sending Love, which is a beautiful side effect, wouldn’t you say?
Pause, take a moment to try it out and comment below what you experienced.
